Ben Franklin Virtues & Music

A  L  O  H  A !

Benjamin Franklin's Virtues.

1. TEMPERANCE.
 Eat not to dullness;
 drink not to elevation.

2. SILENCE.
 Speak not
but what may benefit others
 or yourself;
Avoid trifling conversation.

3. ORDER.
          Let all your things
have their places;
 let each part
of your business
 have its time.

4. RESOLUTION.
  Resolve to perform
what you ought;
Perform without fail
what you resolve.

5. FRUGALITY.
     Make no expense
 but to do good
to others or yourself;
 i.e., waste nothing.

6. INDUSTRY.
       Lose no time;
be always employ'd
 in something useful;
cut off all
unnecessary actions.

7. SINCERITY
 Use no hurtful deceit;
 think innocently
and justly, and,
 if you speak,
speak accordingly.

8. JUSTICE.
  Wrong none
 by doing injuries,
 or omitting the benefits
 that are your
 duty.

9. MODERATION.
  Avoid extreams;
 forget about
resenting injuries.

10. CLEANLINESS.
  Tolerate no uncleanliness
 in body, cloaths,
or habitation.

11.TRANQUILLITY
 Be not disturbed
at trifles,
 or at accidents
 common
 or unavoidable.

12. CHASTITY.
 Rarely be sexually indulgent
 but for health
or offspring,
never to dulness,
weakness,
 or the injury
of your own
 or another's
peace or reputation.

13. HUMILITY.
Imitate Jesus
and Socrates.

This man Franklin
came to Philadelphia
from Boston
with but a
loaf of bread
in his pocket.

Prudent,
printer,
hustler,
thinker,
lover of wine,
and women,
he became
one of the founders
of the United States.

Internationally famous
for his scientific work
in electricity,
and multiple
mundane inventions
[bi-focals]

First ambassador
to France,
popular guest
in Paris salons,

He invented
a musical instrument;
the Armonica,
or Glass Harp.

It was popular
among the aristos,
who whispered
that it's music
made one
quite MAD!
[insane]

Before electronic
sound effects,
it was used in films
about magic,
mystery,
or Flying Saucers.

It's STILL so used.

Without further ado,
prepare to lose YOUR
mind:

Little at a Time

A  L  O  H  A !

“ If you want your children
to be intelligent,
 read them fairy tales.
 If you want them to be
more intelligent,
read them
more fairy tales.”

 Albert Einstein

" Let your life lightly dance
 on the edges of Time
 like dew
 on the tip of a
 leaf. "

Rabindranath Tagore

" And now
 here is my secret,
a very simple secret;
it is only with the heart
 that one can see rightly,
what is essential
 is invisible
 to the eye. "

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

Don't Fool Yourself

A  L  O  H  A !

This Banana leaf was as tall as a person,
but no person walked by
to show the scale for you-

" There is always something
 to make you wonder
 in the shape of a tree,
the trembling of a leaf.  "

Albert Schweitzer

 <[]>

Time to stop fooling
myself;
I always considered myself
an active person.

I USED TO
lift weights,
go to the gym,
run around.

Walking
is my big thing.
But I'm not walking
2 miles a day.

Running across
a    w i d e
B O U L E V A R D,
I had to admit,
that my ankles had
forgotten,
how to run,
so STIFF!

And I got winded
way too quickly.

So every morning
on my walk,
I run just a
little bit further
than I did
the day before.

My ankles
are remembering.

I can jog along for
quite a ways now.

And it makes one
BREATHE DEEP.

[Remember
Deep Breaths?]

So push it!

Don't surrender
to the years!

Your kind visit
adds an irreplaceable element
 to my day:
 YOU!
                                   Thanks pal

 are the enlightenment
 of plants.”

  Eckart Tolle

“Flowers have spoken to me
more than I can tell
 in written words.
 They are the
hieroglyphics of angels,
 loved by all men
for the beauty of their character,
 though few can decipher
 even fragments of their
meaning.”

 Lydia M. Child

“Bread feeds the body, indeed,
but flowers feed the soul.”

Koran

“Because God is Beauty,
 He created loveliness in flowers
 that they might speak of Him.

 More than anything else
in nature
 they hint at
 His presence.”

 Paramahansa Yogananda

“The morning-glory at my window
 satisfies me more
than the metaphysics of books.”

 Walt Whitman

 “Flowers seem intended
for the solace
of ordinary humanity.”

 but I still hear the sound
coming from the flowers.”

to maiden Goddesses,
symbols of their divine Purity.
 To Catholics it is the
Madonna's own flower.

 can turn into such beautiful roses,
what might not

 have broken the rocks.”

Tennessee Williams
