Day After

To view video of yesterday's heavy weather go to www.khnl.com for stuff the chamber of comerce won't show you!

"Da Morning After"

"Yum! Ono Des"

"Do not protect yourself by a fence, but rather by your friends."

Czech Proverb

"When the heart speaks, the mind finds it indecent to object." - Milan Kundera

"Live your life as though there is great joy to be experienced... an abundance of goodness in each person you come in contact with, and the knowledge that you have enough inner wisdom to answer the mysteries that challenge you."
- Meladee McCarty

Today dawned bright & gentle. Even the sidewalks were dry. No more lashing winds, but tame, delightful breezes, to dry everything out. "Light! Sky! Well being! Bien Estar! Nachas!"

Tip for da day: Everything we worry about may happen as we fear, or has happened as we regret. When we dwell on those, we absent ourselves from This Moment - also known as the Here & Now - where all the power, pleasure, and possibility are in play. . . To stop, blink, and really inhabit the present means being in the Presence where inhalation & exhalation dance to the beat of our heart. This is where life is taking place all the time, mostly unnoticed (we have more important things to think about). This is not about mental concepts. This is about really giving yourself permission to BE. . . DOING is our servant which has run mad. Symptoms of your progress will include a growing tolerance for ambiguity, and your walls & boundaries becoming permeable membranes . . .

YOU are a rainbow shining in the Blogosphere!

It's been dry all morning, but still overcast. We'll wait 2 days before turning on the lawn sprinkler again.

You should see our home. People gave us 3 (THREE) large poinsettias. I placed one gigantic one on the floor, another on the coffee table, and another on the shoe cabinet. Enough already, folks! It's beginning to look like a floral shop!

Coudia, Aloha.

Kudera is such a fantastic writer. Thanks for the quote. That other quote we were tracking, it's actually Rimbaud.

I love rainbows. That's a great picture.

And what can I say about your post? "This is where life is taking place all the time, mostly unnoticed."

Very well said. Though I believe in memory, there is only now. Aloha and Mahalo.

I meant Kundera. :0(

BTW, I picked up a copy of your book. It came yesterday. I haven't had a chance to read it yet but will let you know when I do. Looks pretty good.

Oh my! You actually caught a rainbow today? Wasn't that rainfall incredible. I haven't seen something like that in a long, long time.

Rainbows provide a beautiful ending to a storm.

Good afternoon Cloudia,

Checking in on my way through the house and you are what's new. Which seems appropriate enough.

Like the Grandpa, I believe in memory. As of course do you, for those quotes do not spring forth from nowhere, fully formed and fleshed with tantalizing tag lines of authors remembered and books or essays of context to be recalled.

Personally, I struggle with the here and now. I try to be present yet suspect that I plan a mite much and tarry in the future, or the past, longer than maybe I ought to.

Maybe I worry about the "ought" too much too, some days.

As you know, or should know, I enjoy your perspective. How did you come by it? Did it wash over the side of the boat, or was an old you washed away? Or are you a very old you (though temporally young) who has long known the value of now and the knack of remaining in it?

That I would like to know. Maybe over libations of sake and lashings of ahi ahi one day.

Time will tell. Or you will.

Tschuess,
Chris

As always, some great photos, but I have a feed from you (pin-up page?) which apparently does not exist. Know anything about this?

Love all the quotes but especially feel drawn to the glorious rainbow!

I was surprised to find this posting because it is quite different from the title (something about a pin-up icon ~ Bettie Page) appearing on my blog???

Grandpa - Rimbaud! Of course. we HAVE a winner! Look at all the coments you have inspired about memory. What a topic! Aloha & thanks for walking along with me, G.

Charles G. - there is nothing the author of a little, heartfelt, novella likes better than to know that someone discriminating has chosen to read their "baby." Thanks so very much; and also for sharing your time and wisdom here at da Spiral! Your Blog, Razored Zen is a must-read. Oh, and I used your Louisiana snow picture as my screen saver!

Kay - Folks are saying that they haven't been affected by flooding like that since the 70's or even the 50's!! thanks for stopping by to talk story, neighbor!

Barbara M. - Yes indeed! Mahalo.

S. Chris - Aloha, Chris. You sound like a normal healthy human albeit with a unique "eye" and cultivated "appetites." Your comments, hell your friendship is a wonderful gift. Keep strolling along with me and I'll keep reading your unique site Cuneiform Scratchings. A Hawaiian guy-friend can be called an "Ai Kane" roughly: "A guy you eat with" (though so much more too!)
You are my Bud. Have a tarantula or two for me! ;->

Dina - Coming from YOU, those comments bring me nachas!!
Shalom & Aloha (Same thing- eh?)

Walking Man - You strike me as a humble, very accomplished sage who makes himself look deceptively simple. You put treasures on YOUR blog! Thank you for your contributions. aloha-

Claude - The quote is about the protection we find WITH our friends. Your English is SO much better than my French!! Cest BON!
Mon Ami!

Dave King - Always a stimulating pleasure to hear from you, Dave!
Aloha-

Gran: I do love seeing your own worthy posts, and your comments here. Thanks so much! Aloha, friend-

Gemma Greyscale - Mahalo for visiting! Hmmmm, perhaps weather forecasters have pin ups of rainbows . . . . Aloha, Dear-
