Just Another Dawn

Diamond Head: Another Dawn

“Yesterday is but a dream, tomorrow but a vision. But today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness, and every tomorrow a vision of hope. Look well, therefore, to this day. Such is the salutation to the dawn.”
Sanskrit Proverb

Treasure the love you have received above all. It will survive long after your gold and good health have vanished.
Og Mandino

This morning, walking on the beach, I set up for my 7,000th shot of diamond Head. "How many pictures of her do I need?" I wondered. But immediately I realized how every season, time of day, and quality of light paints even the most familiar things in infinite and wondrous permutations.

I already have enough pictures of Diamond Head? One might as well say: "I already have a picture of my mother. Why would I want to take another?"

Fine picture; you can never have too many. Cloudia, I have just finished your book. Just want to say it is extraordinarily good...part narrative, part spiritual journey. Absorbing and funny and uplifting. I'm not sure how much of it was autobiographical, but I feel I have a better grasp (if a stranger's one) of the character and culture of Hawaii. I was very sorry when I got to the end. I hope you are going to write a successor?

You're right. Each picture is really of a new Diamond Head.

So I keep meaning to ask .. do you pick the quotes and then the photo or vice verse?

AND one can never have too many pix of anything they love

Beautiful quotes as always Cloudia! And the pictures are great too. I wanted to ask you the same question as Daryl did: do you pick the quotes first or the photos?

They say that every snowflake is different. If that were true, how could the world go on? How could we ever get up off our knees? How could we ever recover from the wonder of it?

Jeanette Winterson

And yet, Cloudia, the world does go on, and those flakes (and beach views) are all different, and I salute those on there knees who rejoice in each difference instead of letting them slide by. Unnoticed or unremarked.

Vive la différence (in a new context).

Tschuess,
Chris

Love that engine with the surfboard! What a concept - and I might have missed it, or not recognized it for what it is - if you hand't pointed it out!

I enjoy your photos. I've taken 7000 of our lake, I think. It's still icy, but we are making progress with the thaw.

I love the fire truck. Oh my. Around here our police have snowmobiles and water craft!

What I love, most, is seeing the sun and the beach in your shots.

Keep taking those pictures Cloudia, they are all so fantastic. I know I can never get enough of them. I can't tell you how many times I have been to my favorite spots and every time I discover something new, with fresh eyes. And I NEVER get tired of seeing Diamond Head :)
