Many years ago
on the Boardwalk
at the New Jersey shore
a fortuneteller asked me
if I was an artist.
"Writer"
I answered.
"You will write the book,
don't worry."
And so I have,

She further told me
that I would marry a
"kingly man"
younger than myself,
and live with him
in a foreign land.
And here we are
in Hawaii.


24 years ago
today
I met a man.
Older than me in years,
but eternally young
in his spirit.


All that time
we have been together.
He is kingly
and a delightful
little boy at once.
