"What If" Up & Down

Aloha - WEEKEND!

"The torment of precautions
often exceeds
the dangers to be avoided.
It is sometimes better to abandon one's self
to destiny."

Napoleon Bonaparte

"Prudence keeps life safe,
but does not often make it happy."

Samuel Johnson

"The healthy being craves an occasional wildness,
a jolt from normality,
a sharpening of the edge of appetite,
his own little festival of the Saturnalia,
a brief excursion
from his way of life. "

Robert MacIver

"The knowledge of the world
is only to be acquired in the world,
and not in a closet."

Lord Philip Dormer Stanhope Chesterfield

What if?
Have you noticed
most of our 'what if's
are negative?

What if. . . ?
We all fill in that fearsome space.

That is
"What If Down."

But what if GREAT things
are just waiting to happen?
How would it change your internal weather
if your clouds were white and orange and puffy,
 speckled with
a smiling moon,
and singing with lovely
hopes?

That's
"What If Up."

We REALLY need this
WEEKEND-
so TAKE it!

(Weather maps
show winds out of Japan
passing well north of our islands.
Nice for me, eh?)

Thanks for spending some time here with us!
This weekend,
practice your
"What If Ups."

What if something wonderful
accepted your mental invitation!
Just muse on that for a while.

         Warmly, cloudia

Wonderful advice Cloudia! I'll be 'what if upping' all weekend!

Your thoughts are actually key to good brainstorming sessions where evaluation and nay-saying and negative yea-butting or what-iffing really need to be anathema for ideas to feel 'safe enough' to spring forth.

Thanks for that, Bonnie!

The Palm tree in the first pic almost mimics the Hotel exterior, and I can't believe those 3 amigos, BUILT that Mountain from a rooftop! Talk about "UP"

Great Inspiration--it is in the 80's and Beautiful here for the Start of Spring!

Cloudia, did you see the news about Borders Waikele closing at the end of May?

Auwe! My books sold well at that store, better than at Borders Ward.

Ah well, we win some and we lose some.

I used to talk to my students about the 'what if' train. If it came right through the door... well, let's deal with here and now and what is.
You go, girl.
Hugs from Perth.

Being negative all the time makes you sad and other people around you, think positive and you never know what might happen :-).

I really love this collection of quotes!

Great advice! Although I find that What ifs... are usually more positive than negative, thank goodness.

What if you had a wonderful shave ice in the warmth of the afternoon and had clear skies in which to enjoy the Super Moon that's scheduled for tomorrow?

Aloha Cloudia! The first part of Napoleon's quote is great!!

OK; I know that contemporary art doesn’t take unanimous approval... But some pieces are worth seeing. Check it at Blogtrotter Two, enjoy and have a superb weekend!!

I'm reading a book by Dean Koontz where a mental invitation is followed by aomething you wouldn't really want. but I think most of the time the results might be grand. :)
