Envied by Princes

A L O H A!

" It is not talking
 but walking
that will bring us

What a gift it is
to walk unmolested.

To be anonymous
among others
in the busyness
of life.

To pass
 through the streets,
the meadows
that know one
well.

Before he ran for president
Barack Obama
walked alone in Waikiki,
my mother noticed him
but no one else did
yet.

We lament our powerlessness
but in this
we have
what is denied
to kings:
a simple walk down the street
free of notice
free of strings.

       Enjoy it!  cloudia

So true. I don't guess we appreciate that kind of anonymity enough.

I frequently do and I am grateful for it.
Anybody I meet knows me, but in a good way.

I like the walking quotes, walking certainly is the best medicine.

Oh, that is so true. I love your pictures of the everyday in Honolulu, if you can talk about anything in Honolulu being everyday!

I love walking, and amaze myself by seeing new things in what I think of as familiar paths.

I knew it! Did Art contact you and hint that I should be keeping up my exercise and walking? He's not watching me so I'm sitting here at my computer... contemplating that piece of chocolate....

I can't imagine how restrictive it would be to be recognized everywhere you go. Fine post.

I share your joy of anonymity. I ruminated on this quite often. Imagine a life where one has no privacy. Every thing you wear, say and do, including a need for a private stroll, is recorded and poached by the world. I can't imagine being the Royals (Kate & Will).

So many are putting your President Obama down. I knew he faced a long walk alone. The spam sent around, accusing him of all sorts of things, is terrible. Canadians adore him.

"To find new things,
take the path you took yesterday."

this is so true, every time we pass through, we see something new, something more. There's always more to uncover.

And anonimity - sometimes it's a beautiful think.
