A Day

A L O H A !

You gotta click on  these photos
You never know what the day holds.
Yesterday, I had so much fun on my scooter
that I was thinking of trying to share that pleasure
with you in a post.

When I went downstairs this morning,
Scooty wouldn't start.
Silly how out-of-sorts
such of things can make one.

But they sure do!

"Hey it could be worse,"
the kind Hawaiian security guard offered,
"you coulda had an accident."

I was nice to him (I hope)
but preoccupied and upset.

While I was walking on some errands near-by,
sirens came from every direction.

I was sure that it was an exercise for APEC:
the Convention Center is on that block.

But the sirens all converged
just ahead of me.

You can't see her here,
but our magnificent Honolulu Fire Dept crew,
HPD, and the Paramedics
were ALL there for a downed bicyclist.

All this urgent effort, society coming together,
to help ONE person. . . I don't know. . .
it just really touched my heart.

With everything
going on in the world, we still care about a
stranger.

Somehow, that makes me feel like we
can wise up, get together,
and solve our problems.

Yes, we never know what a day holds.
Today, or tomorrow,
could be life-changing.

I just wanted to share these thoughts
with You,
"Strangers."

Who have become friends!

Oh gee these words buzz about like a bumble bee with a plan....we just never know sometimes....sorry about Scooty, but as I've been told things happen for a reason, sometimes we just don't know why at the time..... Aloha Cloudia to you and Scooty!

It does make you feel good when you know there are those upon which you can depend. I love the last shot.

Yes! That last pic. jumps right off the screen~~!

People do come together in a crisis, and sometimes they keep it going for a lifetime. Live it when that happens . . .

The whole purpose of having a society is just for that reason. Too bad there are so many people who just do not understand that.

A very reassuring event Cloudia, hopefully everyone is special to someone. I know I'm being hopeful here, but you have to be right!!

So wonderful. There have been great sunsets and sunrises lately, and this one over Waikiki is great.
I witnessed a rescue not long ago where one victim survived and the other didn't. The rescue crew was wonderful, but they were just a little too late.

Good that they are there to help.

Hello Cloudia, I am no stranger :) This is me oceangirl. Your photos are amazing but the last one of the spreading sky is unbelievable. I wonder how big is Oahu. I had been to the big island and it was not big, I mean we went around the island in one day. Isn't it amazing to stay on a small island in the middle of the biggest ocean in the world.

A lovely thought. And yes, the blogging friends have become so important to me. I love reading about pieces of the world I might never see.

Scoot is UP!

It was something silly and simple and now I know :-)

Yes, it is interesting living on a small island - just ask Napoleon, LOL

Thanks SO much for sharing

Its the basic human tendency to help a fellow being especially when he/she is down and incapable.
Unfortunately this tendency varies from person to person and from country to country, based on different factors.

Great people and a wonderful society as compared to one recent case in China where a little 2 year old girl was knocked down by a van, rolled over her in slow speed but aware he has run down a person. More than a dozen people walked by without lifting a finger to do anything and a next van came rolled over her again until a rubbish collector who happened to pass by came to rescue. Where are the hearts of the people..robots? Shame!

I try to focus on what I have rather than have not. To practice gratitude rather than desire. It's not that easy. Thanks for the reminder.
