Walk in Ala Moana Park

ALOHA !

Go ahead and click on the photos
Slow Down! This isn't the 'mainland.'

Let's walk in Ala Moana Park
before her parking lots are closed
and become staging areas
for APEC security. . .

Nature is so nurturing, welcoming . . .
SAY! is that tree SNEERING at us?

He's a mean drunk!

" Bacchus, n.: A convenient (nature) deity
invented by the ancients
as an excuse for getting drunk. "

Ambrose Bierce

" Bacchus hath drowned more men
than Neptune (god of the seas)."

Thomas Fuller

And speaking of seas,

Ala Moana is a beach park.

Outrigger Canoes at Rest

Pupukahi i holomua

" Unite to move forward."

Each Hawaiian in the canoe
has to pull together on the call
for the canoe to move forward,
quickly forward.

Each canoe has a soul that is awakened
and reawakened
with blessings.

Anyone who talks to their vehicle
 should understand this!

They all have given names as well

I ka 'olelo no ke ola, i ka 'olelo no ka make.

" In speech is life, in speech is death."

" Imua means “go forward” in Hawaiian.
Most often said with an  exclamation point:

Red Rovers

These are not Hawaiian Outrigger Canoes.  What?

Ah! Here he is with his head ON.  (At Splendor of China)

" As soon as you trust yourself,
you will know how to live. "

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe,
Faust

Wonderful is an understatement !! Brilliant Cloudia !! Thanks for the new words I'll be using in my travels, loved Saturday in The Park was playing as I walked with you...there is a saying here in New York City that us natives use when we have a feeling of great joy after visiting a place...and its "Fuhhhgeedddaaaboutttit !!! " ..sums up all the great feelings in one NYC term ;) Peace from the NYC Cloudia, ~ Edward

Mahalo for the walk around! Maybe the APEC attendees should try the canoes to learn about cooperation...DrumMajor

This was so much fun, Cloudia. I love it when you explain what we might be seeing. Wow! Apec is just a couple of days away.

"Imua!" sounds about the same as a favorite of mine: "Excelsior!" (Higher!) I like to say this when something batshit stupid has just happened. :-P

I love the idea of the canoes having a given name as well as their written name; and the Faust comment says it all - the trouble is that learning to trust ourselves can be very hard.
