Great quote ! Queen Wilhelmina(1880-1962) wrote a book, titled "Lonely but not alone". I can agree with Elephant's Child: you can feel lonelier in a crowd than on your own. I think that is what the Queen meant. She was never alone but most of the time very lonely .

I used to have a different version of that quote on the bottom of all my emails. I had never heard it with the lonesome part before.
