Our Regular Encounters

A L O H A From Honolulu!
Sunflowers
is the title of two series
of still life paintings by
Dutch master
Vincent van Gogh.
The first series, executed
in Paris in 1887,
the second set, made a
year later in Arles,
shows a bouquet of
sunflowers in a vase.

Slowness means cleaving
perfectly to time,
so closely that the
seconds fall one by one,
drop by drop like the
steady dripping of a
tap on stone.
This stretching of time
deepens space.
It is one of the
secrets of walking:
a slow approach to
landscapes that gradually
renders them familiar.
Like the regular encounters
that deepen friendship. Frédéric Gros

How I mourn that Van Goph's genius was not recognised while he was alive and that he died in poverty and despair.
And how I love his sunflowers...

You find the most interesting street scenes. I love that first photo!

Nice post! That's a pretty cool shirt. I'd love to go to Arles someday to see the light and images that inspired Van Gogh during his time there.

Awesome post today! I love the conga line of clouds dancing beside Diamond Head and the bunny in the kimono waiting for spring to flow by. Pixie, however, is not sure if that conga line is going to run into her penthouse pad and rain out her happy vibe.

Great find and street photography by finding that van Gogh lover.
