A L O H A From Honolulu!
It is a mistake to regard age as
a downhill grade toward dissolution.
The reverse is true.
As one grows older, one
climbs with surprising strides.

The moments of happiness
we enjoy
take us by surprise.
It is not that we seize them,
but that they seize us.
Ashley Montagu
I was walking with a friend 50 years ago. A very well dressed older gentleman approached us and told her sincerely that her beauty compelled him to honor her. He kissed her hand, and sincerely told my friend: "You are beautiful." Then went on his way....
...It is 50 years later. And
I only witnessed this. But
I remember that man,
that experience. Be like him.
Share with people. Let them know.
And perhaps in 50 years
they will still remember
the encounter and your words!
I only witnessed this. But
I remember that man,
that experience. Be like him.
Share with people. Let them know.
And perhaps in 50 years
they will still remember
the encounter and your words!
One of the delights known to age,
and beyond the grasp of youth,
is that of Not Going.

If I ever go looking
for my heart's desire again,
I won't look any further
than my own backyard;
because if it isn't there,
I never really lost it
to begin with.

What a charming gentleman.
The Anthony Burgess quote made me grin. I agree.
Beautiful captures and interesting tale!
Wonderful words.
Pixie has definitely reached the stage of "Not Going"! She stays in and bombards us with her cuteness. Love todays post with its awesome pictures and wonderful words of wisdom.
Pic 1 awesome.
I am delighted that I have made it this far.
Bolstered by your beautiful photos and quotes, we go into the weekend refreshed.
That portrait looks startled. Great expression though

What a beautifully reflective and inspirational post! My favorite is Pixie and her reflection.
That's one of my favorite lines from my favorite movie, Cloudia! Tell Pixie that great minds think alike - LOL!
I love the Lizard, fabulous Cloudia.
Great words and pics today. I love your story of the old man 50 years ago, Cloudia. ;-)
That Anthony Burgess quote is SO true! Thanks for showing it.

Getting old is an honour not all get to enjoy.
The quote about the gentleman kissing that woman's hands and telling her that she is beautiful is very touching. I do think we should appreciate all the beauty we see and appropriately express our appreciation. I love this notion, I do. Thanks for sharing your pictures, quotes and thoughts. Take care.
PS. Pixie looks kinda like our Lakshmi kitty.
We really make a difference when we interact with others. I always greet everyone with a smile. I hope that is remembered!
I have a special place in my heart for calicos, and Pixie always amazes with her sweetness. I love the story about the older gentleman and your friend. One does remember those events forever. I still remember in my older years when my hair was graying, after I had a haircut and was at the store, a gentleman my age looked at me and told me that I was beautiful with my beautiful hair. Made my whole year.
