Sub-Tropical Pacific Weather

A L O H A !
Art & Auto Repair:
Honolulu's Kaka'ako Neighborhood.

Always sights to amaze or appall.
I just drink it all in!

Who remembers the sweet little Theater? Now a dive shop with a tall new neighbor abuilding.

We had thunderstorms with lightning, and flooded streets last night. Today, as above, the hungover clouds cling to the mountains. Tropical weather. All magnificent! Even our humidity is imported from Tahiti 🌴

•°`~
Glad you walked along today!

" When I'm stuck with a day
that's grey and lonely
I just stick up my chin
and grin and say oh

The sun will come out tomorrow
So you got to hang on 'til tomorrow,
come what may!
Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love you tomorrow
You're always a day away "
                    CHARLES STROUSE; MARTIN CHARNIN

['^']

A weather front
came through our islands
from the West
bringing rain and wind
from an unaccustomed direction.

When the winds grow strong
our electricity can be spotty.

Our trees, plants and roofs
are braced for
North East Trade Winds.
So a few trees, roofs
& plants
blew away
taking wires down.

But NOT a Hurricane!

Meanwhile,
it's 71F [22C]

Maybe it's the years
I spent living aboard
our boat,
or our open-air coffee shack
back on the Big Island,
but big rain & wind
make me anxious.
[How many times
have I run from
tsunami threats,
or hurricane?]

Glad my snow days
are behind me!

So how are YOU doing?
Are You susceptible
to weather?

Keep warm in your heart.
Here is all the sun I can send.
My love is enclosed-

Hawaii Sock Weather

A  L  O  H  A !
"Some people confuse
 blurting out whatever
crosses their mind,
with honesty;
But that is like
calling a burp
a song. "
            Cloudia Charters

" When you build
bridges
you can keep
crossing them. "
                          Rick Pitino

We are freezing.
I am wearing socks
as I write this.

You can tell locals
from Honolulu visitors:
Locals are wearing sweaters,
jackets, fashionable boots.
Visitors
are going to the beach
in bathing suits.

It didn't get above
73f yesterday!
And what awesome
sleeping weather
in the low/mid 60s.
73 degrees F = 22.78 degrees C

A front full of rain & wind
passed through last night,
but it looks like the President
might just get in a
game of golf today.

[that was written yesterday.
He took the girls
to the beach]

What fun it's been
to see the girls,
sometimes hand in hand
with their Dad.

How great
that Barack & Michelle
spent time with military
families on Christmas
as they always do.

And the wedding that got moved
for presidential golf?
The military couple understood
that such things can happen,
and said
it made their wedding day
speaking informally with
the President:
"My bosses bosses bosses boss!"
As they happily put it.
[ceremony moved to a
 'prettier' location close by]

Thank You
for visiting-
Sightings of YOU
stir up almost as much
excitement as a
Presidential motorcade!

Sweet Air is Back

A  L  O  H  A!
The "Ha" in Aloha
is the breath of life
that we all share.

Try it now,
just let out a good

'H a'

Today as is normal
Honolulu's air
is sweet and delectable,
not too humid,
not too dry.

Clean, sweet, breezes
 scented with perfumed people,
blossoms, restaurants,
bakeries, and the sea.

Of course traffic
smells like traffic
anywhere.

This is Feel Good weather.

Hope YOU feel good too!

Thank Goodness It's Raining

ALOHA, FRIENDS!
Thank goodness
it's JUST raining!

Hurricane Ana
is lingering
 in our neighborhood
as it brushes our islands
with Rain Rain Rain.

Very grey and unsettled.

Kitty has taken to her cave

under the bed.

My feelings are Gratitude

that the hurricane
stayed offshore,
accompanied by
 a sort of
storm exhaustion.

Your visit

Trade Wind Happy

A  L  O  H  A !
 When the Trade Winds blow,
 it makes everyone feel young
like this fellow enjoying
a ride in the back
of an open vehicle

How wonderful to work
high on a roof with the
 Ko`olau Mountains watching

Surf is up too!

Blow away Volcanic haze!
Come freshening North East Winds
bring the scent of far off cold
and open ocean-

Clear the skies
and open our hearts
to Delight!

Bright Sun
Glinting waves
Fresh visitors.

Thank YOU
for visiting today!
Hope YOU are feeling it too-

Hot Hazy Days in Hawaii

A  L  O  H  A !
" By all these lovely tokens
September days are here,
With summer's best of weather
And autumn's best of cheer. "
                            Helen Hunt Jackson

Salt & Sea Spray are visible in the rays of the setting sun

Northern Bloggers are posting
 crisp blue skies. Soon
we'll see their pumpkins,
frost, flamboyant
Autumn leaves.

We feel the pleasure
of our friends Down Under,
as they enter Spring
and sing of her
glories in flowers,
birds and vistas.

But as Sun  departs
or rushes to you
she lingers over
Hawaii's Sub-Tropical
location.

These are hot hazy days,
warmer than our
Summer was.

Trade Winds are OFF
as we dream of breezy
sunny winter ahead!

These afternoons are
best spent in the shade.

Surf to soothe
at dawn and dusk!

Thank YOU
so much for visiting!

One Day Winter

A  L  O  H  A !

" We are all travelers

in the wilderness

of this world,

and the best we can find

in our travels

is an honest friend. "

Robert Louis Stevenson

Quiet minds
cannot be perplexed
or frightened
but go on in fortune
or misfortune
at their own private pace,
like a clock
during a thunderstorm. "

Robert Louis Stevenson

" Old and young,
we are all
on our last cruise. "

Robert Louis Stevenson

=^..^=

Tropical Storm Flossie

poured rain on the Big Island,

high winds, rain,

lightning and thunder

on Maui.

Here on Oahu

we had a rainy, humid,

threatening day

followed by a rainy

Night. But

today was sunny,

like waking up from

a nightmare,

or Winter for a day.

Hooray!

May your day shine

and pleasure

be thine.
