" On this her Maiden Deployment
USS Freedom
is headed to Southeast Asia and Singapore,
where the ship will spend roughly eight months.
While there, the Freedom will conduct
maritime security operations
with regional partners and allies,"
according to the Navy.
Fast & agile,
these 'platforms' can be configured
for three separate purposes:
surface warfare, mine countermeasures,
or anti-submarine warfare.

interesting tidbit on the camouflage.
I can’t help but be disturbed by any new piece of war machinery. Sure, the ship is handsome and imposing, but its purpose is destruction of some sort.
I just hope it won’t point its guns at me.
I have never seen a camouflaged navy ship, it shouldn't go to Barbados, there camouflage is forbidden.
Greetings,
Filip
Fascinating about Barbados.
Bless you, Friko. As an ally we are on the same side of any 'gun pointing.' BUT My heart applauds your sentiment; however, like Leonardo da Vinci I fear that peace-lovers must be prepared for conflict.
There are many things my gov't has done since WWII of which I do not approve, but angered people don't make such distinctions with their destruction......hopefully we can build a fresh world of true mutuality!
Thanks to you too, Tex.
Much Appreciated

Interesting about the camouflague. I wonder why.
glad those images took you on a trip down memory lane. hope it was a pleasant journey.
Very cool. Makes me think of the USS Carolina!
Interesting. You took good pics as always.
I thought that the gray used to paint ships was the camouflage. Showing my ignorance again.
Thanks!
We all know why it is there, don't we?
Thanks for your visit and comment. There is still so much to be done for women all over the world.
The camouflage is easy to suss out. It is not to make the ship invisible on the waves, though in high seas where the combers are breaking at 30+ feet it would do so, the camo is to not make the radar resistant shape readily visible to optical (camera) observation. Hiding for a time the stealth shape and design of the ship.
Car companies do the same thing with new roll outs as they are road tested only more so.
very interesting!
love the photos. as always~
