Was the ukulele invented in Hawaii? It seems like not, but it is the most Hawaiian thing besides pineapples!
Ah..ok...I googled it:
The ukulele originated in the 19th century as a Hawaiian adaptation of the Portuguese machete,[4] a small guitar-like instrument, which was introduced to Hawaii by Portuguese immigrants, mainly from Madeira and the Azores.
...and pineapples:
The plant is indigenous to South America and is said to originate from the area between southern Brazil and Paraguay...
