Pearl Harbor Day, December 7th is always observed in Honolulu in a big way.
(Photos from this year's parade.) This year is the first time there were no survivors of the attack in town.
Every year I have watched them grow older. Every year there were fewer and fewer, but the fuss we made over them was bigger and bigger.
Only 12 survivors are alive today on the 84th anniversary of the attack.
None able to travel.
Veterans of WWII
were present and honored.
They are responsible
for the life we have enjoyed.
More on the parade tomorrow.

Even the rainbow seems to be in a bit of a hurry going down the highway. Hooray for the Rosies and the veterans. Pearl Harbor Child was there this year, Dorinda Nicholson. She wrote a book with that title, and was 7 years old, living on Pearl Harbor when it was struck. Still does the hula very well; lives in K.C., MO. I didn't know their was a Rosie song!
