A Species Of True Ginger

A L O H A
From
Honolulu
The sun, the earth,
love, friends, our very breath are parts of
the banquet. Rebecca H. Davis

Faces
passing in the street—
How strange,
this crossing of lives, two worlds brushing by in the open air
of the ordinary.

We share the street, we share the light, we share this fragile,
marvelous life.
Strangers, yes— but not entirely.
For a second,
we are characters
in the same story.

Cloudia Charters

Zingiber spectabile is
a species of true ginger, native to Maritime Southeast Asia. It is primarily grown in the West as an ornamental plant, although it has been used in South-East Asia as a medicinal herb. Wikipedia

I am determined to be
cheerful and happy in whatever situation I may find myself. For I have learned that the greater part of our misery or unhappiness is determined not by our circumstance but by our disposition. Martha Washington 1st First Lady (FLOTUS) of the USA

Great Pixie portrait — as always but sometimes worth mentioning.

Loved Martha and Rebecca's thoughts, and all your photos! Ginger is a favorite of mine, even a Ginger Beer...which is non-alcoholic.

Happy Friday, Cloudia! This post feels like a beautiful, warm tropical breeze on a busy day. I always look forward to your little corners of paradise, and getting a big "ALOHA" from Honolulu instantly puts me in a great mood.

It is incredibly true how we just brush past hundreds of people a day, each of us carrying our own massive worlds, yet for a fleeting second, we share the exact same light and space. It makes you look at every passing stranger with a little more kindness and curiosity. Combine that with the wisdom from Martha Washington, and it’s just the perfect reminder to choose joy today no matter what chaos is happening around us.

Also, I am completely fascinated by the Zingiber spectabile! It looks absolutely mesmerizing nature is such an incredible artist. Is this gorgeous ginger growing right in your own garden?

Sending you and Pixie the biggest hugs for a magical, sunny weekend ahead! I hope it's filled with beautiful skies and lots of love!

Amazing ginger. It looks like it should close or quiver if I touched it. Linda in Kansas

Pixie looks like she's meditating on the ginger plant (perhaps wondering if it is as good as catnip...). Love the quotes today.
