Restorative

A L O H A From Honolulu!

The hardest thing
for a person to do is
to change long-standing
prejudices of belief.
But to succeed in
doing it is a test
of one's humanity.
Franklin

Focus on the
relationship
and not the
transaction.
If you do that,
all will be pono.*

The Things

You Deserve to Enjoy Today

 A L O H A From Honolulu!
When you buy into
any version of fear,
it can become
your experience
because your molecules
are intelligent
and your energy responds
to the predominant feeling
in your being.
The focus of your mind
is exactly what gives
the orders to create
what you experience.
  Barbara Marciniak

It is not flesh and
blood but the
heart which makes
us fathers and sons.
Friedrich Schiller

Rest is not idleness,
and to lie sometimes
on the grass under trees
on a summer's day,
listening to the murmur
of the water, or watching
the clouds float across
the sky...

...is by no means
a waste of time.
John Lubbock

If you spend your
whole life waiting
for the storm,
you'll never enjoy
the sunshine.
Morris West

Gilded Spiral Within

A L O H A From Honolulu!
Worry is
digging a hole
where no hole
was before.
Stop Digging!

The gilded spiral
Of longings within.

persistently to
heaven.

Choir
Then the singing
enveloped me.
It was furry and
resonant, coming
from everyone's very heart.
There was no sense of
performance or judgment,
only that the music was
breath and food.

Dwell

A L O H A From Honolulu!

Sometimes
during a ballet
I'll look around
and see
all these rows
of intent faces,
concentrating on
this beautiful thing
up on the stage.
  Robert Caro

For my part,
I know nothing
with any certainty,
but the sight
of the stars
makes me dream.
Vincent Van Gogh

Not just beautiful, though–
the stars are like the
trees in the forest,
alive and breathing.
And they’re watching me.

looking at the stars.

A morning walk
gives the body a
chance to forgive the
trials and tribulations
of yesterday, to
shed its rubbish
and mental clutter. Walking gets
the feet moving,
the blood moving, the
mind moving. And
movement is life. Terri Guillemets

Just Clouds Passing

Walter Murray Gibson Building
842 Bethel Street, Honolulu
Opened: 1930
Architect: Louis E. Davis
Style: Spanish Revival
"During the reign of King Kalakaua,
the Minister of the Interior purchased
the property at Bethel Street
and Merchant Street in 1885.
Construction of a new
police station began in 1886.

In 1930, Louis E. Davis was commissioned
for the design of a new building in
the same spot by the same name.
The architecture is similar to the popular
Territorial/Spanish Revival style
seen in Honolulu Hale, [City Hall]
the Academy of Arts,
the C. Brewer & Co. Building,
and more. Like other buildings
of this style, the walls are concrete
covered with a rough stucco finish.
The Walter Murray Gibson Building also
features sandstone from Waianae Oahu,
eleven tons of Roja Alicante marble
from France, and doors made
of mahogany from the Philippines.
When it was used as a police station,
police occupied the basement."

Not only is there a
right to be happy,
there is a duty
to be happy.

So much sadness
exists in the world
that we are all
under obligation to contribute as much joy as
lies within our powers.
