I love this streetscape in Honolulu's
Kalihi-Palama neighborhood
far from the tourists.
This little building is
pink like Tripler Military Hospital
and the Royal Hawaiian Hotel.
This was the town I drove
taxi in in the 1980's.
A very different town than today
with old folks who remembered WWII
in the Islands, and the plantation life.
I'm very lucky to have known
that 20th Century Honolulu!

It is good that you have those memories of the old neighbourhood as it was. Last night I was in the area where I had a studio for years in the 80s and couldn't believe the changes. The old factory buildings where we all were are either gone or tarted up. It has lost its flavour. I'm glad to have the memories of places and friends from that time.
We are totally on the same wavelength Pat! I am grateful for all of my experiences. Of course the people today are building their own memories and we are not really privy to them. So there is hope their memories will be as rich as ours. I want to thank each of you and tell you how much it means to me to see you here and your comments. Aloha friends. Thank you
