Elvis Presley’s ties to Hawaii run deep: he brought world wide attention to the islands with his films and music. His 1973 “Aloha from Hawaii” concert broadcast from Honolulu reached over a billion viewers, setting entertainment history.
In 1961 Elvis almost single-handedly reinvigorated a campaign to build the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor. His electrifying benefit concert raised over $60,000 and ignited worldwide support, turning a dream into Hawaiʻi’s most visited historic site.

through bright blue of haze,
quicksilver arc expanding

Woven color, a humid,
brief surprise,
A gasp of wonder
exploded in
our morning eyes.
The vapor fades,
chroma gone too soon,
A brilliant memory
lasts to afternoon!

Have a nice day.
Pixie is wide awake.
Blue Hawaii is the first film I can remember seeing, in my parents car at a drive in movie theatre.
...I love the Paulo Coelho quote.
How interesting to learn of the Elvis connection.
I never knew about Elvis' support of Hawaii, just thought he liked to be there! Of course! Pixie is certainly the cutest cat!
Thank you for spending time every day to share pictures, poems, and prose (and Pixie, too) with us.
And today we got a history lesson, as well!
Love Pixie's words today, Cloudia. ;-)
Agree with RedPat what a quote.
I never knew about Elvis' contribution to Hawaii, Cloudia. Thanks, too, for your poem and Pixie's wisdom. Blessings!
Thanks for a wonderful post. Pixie looks like she's enjoying the fire silk light of your poem. I learned something new about Elvis, too. Does Waikiki have Elvis impersonators like Vegas?
Yes, Elvis was a star on so many levels. I love your photos today. Have a good day.
Glad to read about Elvis Presley, Beautiful photos, Amazing sky view. Hello to Pixie :) Great post.
Elvis.💙
(Have you seen Pastor Bob Joyce on youtube? Looks so much like him!)
I remember as a child seeing the movie Blue Hawaii. Elvis singing "I Can't Help Falling in Love With You" to the Hawaiian grandmother is my strongest memory of the movie.
I didn't know that about Elvis Presley. There is always so much to learn, isn't there? Nice photos and quotes again this week. Give Pixie a pat for me.
Really wonderful post. I like some of Elvis music. My mom use to love Elvis a lot. Lovely photos and wonderful poem. Happy Friday and have a wonderful weekend!

I'm glad you shared this post with FFO. Thank you and have a lovely weekend.
Aloha, Cloudia! I've missed visiting your lovely blog. I didn't know that Elvis helped with the restoration of the Arizona, although I certainly was familiar with all his Hawaiian movies. Wise words from Pixie. Have a great weekend!
I am in awe of this post. I had no idea about how much Elvis contributed to the islands and the restoration of the USS Arizona. Happy FFO.
Qué bonito todo. Me trajiste recuerdos de los tiempos de Elvis, aunque yo nací tiempo después en mi adolescencia me gustaban sus canciones. Un abrazo
The quote on Pixie is so enlightening. Put that way, I think life can be easier to handle.
Worth a Thousand Words
I love watching the old Elvis movies, the vibe is great. Such an ambassador for Hawaii.
