This is precisely the time
when artists go to work.
There is no time for despair,
no place for self-pity,
no need for silence,
no room for fear.
We speak, we write,
we do language.
That is how
civilizations heal.
Toni Morrison
As long as the hearts of
decent people are still beating,
hope lives. Put your hand
on your chest right now
and be reminded:
hatred hasn’t won.

I believe we will survive these difficult days, the same way we survived the 50s and McCarthyism. At some point in the not-too-distant future, we will clean up the mess made by our current overlords and go forward with a deeper appreciation of both our assets and our defects. In hindsight, we will see that we were subjected to a decade of insanity for a reason. And that reason is so we could evolve. So that we could become better.

Thanks for your uplifting message with your poem and all the great quotes. "Hatred hasn't won!" Pixie and the sumo surfers can attest to that! Glad you are high above the flooding in your penthouse nest :)
