A L O H A
Diamond Head
green-crowned and ancient
at dawn against the sea.
She
savors the light
like memory
in the rich salt air.
Diamond Head at morning
does not need to rush—
but breathes the coral light,
as gold unfurls along the beach.
The sky leans soft
against her shoulders,
pale blue steeped in hush
while she readies herself,
another dawn
before the day begins.
Standing barefoot in that hour,
feel the sand's embrace.
The island knows your name
but sings it in silence instead.
Never say there is
nothing beautiful in
the world anymore.
There is always something
to make you wonder
in the shape of a tree,
the trembling of a leaf.
Albert Schweitzer
Oh cat, I'd say, or pray:
be-ootiful cat!
Delicious cat! Exquisite cat!
Satiny cat!
Cat like a soft owl,
cat with paws like moths,
jewelled cat, miraculous cat!
Cat, cat, cat, cat.

Today I love the quote of Doris Lessing the best.
What she said. Cat Cat Cat! But Diamond Head is nice too, especially when I think of breathing salt air!
On our walk last evening, we had two cats come to greet us. That is extremely unusual.
Beautiful murals and a lovely view of Diamond Head. Love the photos and your poem! Take care, enjoy your day and the week ahead.
I loved your poetic description of Diamond Head, Cloudia. And that poem by Lessing describes Pixie perfectly. Blessings!
Weather and scheduling prevented us from getting to Diamond Head on our last visit, which still makes me sad.
I should reread my Doris Lessing books, Cloudia. ;-)
...I love those long shadows on the beach.
Looks like Miss Pixie's official yearbook portrait! Linda in Kansas
That is painted very nicely. The colors... the movement. Nice, also, the photo with it.
To the ocean!
Great quotes and lovely mural Cloudia. Puxie looks cute as usual. Thanks for participating in Monday Murals.
I missed this post yesterday. My favorite part was that lovely ode to Pixie Cat :)
